for Beginners
American Hard Maple Blocks - "the real deal"
The Toy Blocks Kits on this page include four different Beginner Kits, suitable for youngsters from 4 - 5. There are enough blocks to really begin to talk about and begin to build structures as opposed to merely stacking blocks and at the end of this age range, children begin to think about details such as doors and ramps. Our six year old, for example, was much taken with wheelchair ramps when she first noted them and was excited to find she could mimic them with a ramp. This is still a trifle young for blocks; children really begin to make things at age 6-7 at which time they will need 150 to 300 blocks - but for a five year old this is plenty.
The Beginner A Kit is our best selling Kit of wooden blocks and a favorite for younger children. Our "A" Kits are somewhat more detailed and offer a wider range of pieces. The "B" Kits are chunkier with somewhat larger pieces. In general, "A" Kits and "B" Kits are the same size (volume/weight).
