This is the best book we have found on block play
and building with blocks directed at individuals and not at classroom
use. Award winning architect Lester Walker
presents eighteen exciting projects for children of all ages, including
a bridge, boat dock, drive-in restaurant, shopping mall, skyscraper,
castle, and even a Toy Store City, a City of the Future, and The Emerald
City of Oz.
Children will play with blocks spontaneously, but sometimes there are
little tricks and twists that they must learn before they can
move on. Parents and teachers will find this book useful in guiding
their children's play. This book illustrates a lot of building
possibilities that might not occur without a lot of trial and error. It
has many pages of interesting ideas (167 pp), and is a terrific help to
anyone with a reasonably sized block kit. The book does call for a
certain number of specific pieces and persons who own other kits may
have to make substitutions in various places or purchase these pieces
from Open Stock. If you are just starting out, the block kit below is
specifically recommended for those who want to build all of the projects
and includes all of the required pieces and also the optional pieces..
